Maui 2017

Jumping off a 30 foot platform is way more fun when it’s free. “You have to do something awesome as soon as you get off the plane” – that’s Emily’s motto! So she drove me around half of the island to swim at the Olivine Pools. We picked up some hitchhikers on the way, and they offered us a free zipline tour! Can’t say no to that, right?

On the ferry ride to Lanai, I remember feeling so full of awe there wasn’t room in my mind for anything else. It’s hard to describe a trip that just feeds your soul. My sister Emily exudes adventure; and that’s exactly what I needed in life right now. You can only hustle for so long before you need a break – physically, and mentally! We fit more into 4 days than most people can fit into a week…when you vacation with Emily, seriously…every minute is full of adventure. We drove around the whole island (part of the Road to Hana at NIGHT!), went to a PuPu party (great name, right?), went cliff jumping, snorkeled with a turtle and a little shark, went hiking, went ziplining, paddle boarding, hot tubbing, waterfall chasing, and watched several sunsets on the beach. I told you Emily has a way of doing a lot of awesome stuff in a short amount of time! She moved to Maui back in August, and she’s fit a whole year of adventure into 5 months than most people do in years. I treasure this time together- just us sisters. I follow Jenna Kutcher’s Podcast and she recently did an episode with her sister. She said “Sisters are 50% clone, and 50% opposites.” It’s so fun when your similarities allow you to have fun together…and the ways your opposite add richness to the relationship.

I wrote on the plane ride home, “Every new sight made me thank the Lord for His goodness and creativity.” I’ve always had a travel bug, and I’m realizing that last sentence is the reason why. There are so many different, beautiful sights that point to our Creator. I want to always live in awe of not just His creation, but of Him. God is good!
