Baby J | Pittsburg, CA Newborn Session

I still remember the email. I had just delivered their wedding photos, and Roxy told me that I would be their photographer for *everything*. She said she couldn’t wait until they had kids so I could photograph them. And what an honor it’s been to not only photograph their firstborn, but their second, Julian, and well!

I did this session shortly after I found out I was pregnant with Clara, so it was fun getting an inside peek of life with a new baby and a toddler 🙂 These parents are so sweet and fun with both of their kiddos. Jay will be such a great big brother to Julian, and I see just a bit of trouble the two could get in together 🙂

When I do newborn sessions, my approach is very laid back and natural. I will never ask anything of kids or parents that seems like it will be too much work or effort; rather, I go with “family-led” sessions, meaning we do what’s natural to you. For Jay (their toddler!), he wanted to crawl under the table because that was fun. So I got under the table with him and we captured some natural, sweet smiles out of him. Family photography should not be stressful for everyone, it should be fun and relaxed! Because when you’re relaxed and happy, it shows 🙂
