Typically there are some nervous jitters and a little bit of stress before the ceremony. That’s not typical for Anita and Saajan 🙂 After their arrival at the Canyon View, Saajan and his entire family danced their way from the parking lot to the entrance. I don’t just mean they hop, skipped, and jumped…they danced. Like had a DJ, had someone on the drums, had sweat dripping  down their faces danced. Isn’t that so contrary to what we’re used to? Instead of waiting for the marriage ceremony to be over to celebrate, these people spent the entire day celebrating and they did not quit!Â
Anita and Saajan’s wedding ceremony was a beautiful harmony of their culture and families. My favorite part? When Saajan took his shoes off to step onto the stage and all the kids rushed to steal his shoes 🙂 The entire day was fun like that…unexpected choreographed dances, cheers and joyful shouts just for the heck off it, and lots more dancing 🙂
The only tears that were shed were happy ones. “You’re the most precious thing in my life…in our lives…and we’re just so happy you found someone who makes you so happy” Asha said as she looked away from Anita so she wouldn’t cry.  I watched as emotion overcame Anita, her sister, and her parents.  Her family’s toast was a testament to how much support and love Anita and Saajan have through their community.
On the way home from the wedding, Greg asked me how they met because he hadn’t heard the story. When I told him they met at UCSD on the dance team, he couldn’t believe it. He said “I figured they’d met on Match.com or something, because they could not be a better mate for either of them!”. Â Both Anita and Saajan are so down to earth, so joyful, and so focused on others. It’s no doubt they were created for each other. Side note, you’ll see in the photos just how much dancing there was at this wedding…isn’t it appropriate?!
Anita and Saajan,
Thank you so much for allowing Greg and I the honor of celebrating your wedding with you. You humbled us with your joy and easy-going-ness 🙂 I know you will build a successful marriage because you are committed to each other and your community is committed to you. You two are so perfect for each other it’s a little ridiculous! Keep each other first and keep each other smiling. And don’t let the other one work TOO hard 😉
XOXO,
Julia
